TITLE:           Instructional Specialist – HS SPARK GRANT

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Holds a bachelor’s or higher degree and the required Kentucky certificate for the assigned position.
  2. Has demonstrated the ability to work effectively with students, peers, and adults.
  3. Has demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community.
  4. 3 years of successful teaching experience

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education.

 

JOB GOAL:

Support and lead the implementation of transition-focused educational programs by providing assessments, evaluations, instruction, and coordinated collaboration with community partners to meet the needs of middle and high school students through effective community-based instruction. Demonstrate independent leadership by supporting program functions with minimal supervision.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Assist in the implementation of transition-focused education programs for middle and high school students by providing comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and instruction to meet the needs of students and families including school and community work-based instruction; provide leadership and assistance to support student work skills and community-based instruction with a minimum of supervision.
  2. Implement required parts of students’ Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for eligible participants.
  3. Provide instruction, appropriate learning materials and experiences for the participants and provide continuous evaluation of students' progress and achievement.
  4. Plan and implement student and parent interactions and activities.
  5. Provide and arrange teacher and parent training support.
  6. Plan and implement a parent involvement program.
  7. Promote program, interpret purpose of program to potential clients and interested people in the community.
  8. Maintain accurate records on the program and provide data to appropriate personnel.
  9. Plan regularly with staff and participate in appropriate school meetings and activities.
  10. Comply with policies, rules and regulations of the School District and State or federal regulatory agencies where appropriate.
  11. Perform related duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:    

 

            2 days/week – 68-day contract-position is for 16 mos at $35,116 for the total length of the grant
